Switzerland are in danger of crashing out of the Davis Cup after both Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka lost on the opening day of their clash with the USA.
World number one Federer looked to be on his way to a routine victory over John Isner when he won the first set 6-4 but the American rallied to win the next three - 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 in Fribourg.

I thought he played great - he played it tough and served great when he had to.

Earlier in the day Mardy Fish upset the Swiss number two Wawrinka 6-2 4-6 4-6 6-1 9-7 to leave Switzerland needing to win all three of the remaining rubbers if they are to emerge victorious in the tie.
Isner was too good for the 16-time Grand Slam winner on Friday, but Federer was gracious in defeat, saying: "I thought he played great - he played it tough and served great when he had to.
"It's been a difficult day for us, but we still have a chance to go through. I'm going to enjoy the challenge."
Federer and Wawrinka will team up for Saturday's doubles against Mike Bryan and Ryan Harrison and must win the rubber to keep the tie alive as a contest. The Swiss pair are 1.50 to win the first set and 1.38 to clinch the match.
